How to organise a KENNO workshop
A KENNO workshop is especially useful at the start of a project or when potential ethical problems arise. The workshop is attended in groups by 4-6 experts from different fields who are involved in the project or affected by it. The modules are worked through one at a time in discussion, and observations, actions and points of friction are documented in the handbook.
The modules can be worked through in any order, and only certain modules can be selected for the workshop if time is to be spent on particular kinds of themes. Different ways of arranging the modules show which questions are central to the project and whether points of friction can be identified between modules.

Choices and responsibilities
How was the chosen solution arrived at, what other options were considered, and who makes the decisions in the project? This module clarifies the rationale for choices and the division of responsibilities and duties.
Automation
What tasks, processes or decision-making does the planned system automate, and what is automation trying to achieve? Can you explain how the automation works?
Data and data management 1/2
Why is the data used necessary for achieving the goals? Can the system be implemented without collecting personal data, and does the data have other current or future uses?

Is the data of good quality and how is quality ensured? How is it identified that the data does not contain undesirable biases, and what new data does the system produce?

Which other systems and digital infrastructures does the operation of the system depend on? What kinds of risks may relate to suppliers, and how are they managed?

In what respects would the system be threatened if the geopolitical situation changed? How are biases in parts implemented elsewhere and new dependencies created by the system taken into account?
Communication
What do stakeholders know about the planned system and what should they know? How is the system communicated about now and once it is complete, and who is responsible for communication?
Participation and openness
How is the knowledge and expertise of stakeholders used in designing the system, and what opportunities to influence are offered to them? What can happen if stakeholders are not heard?

How does the system change employees' tasks or the nature of the work? Is the operation of the system understandable to users, and how much leeway does an expert have to deviate from its results?

Does the system involve choices that have significant impacts on the environment and resource consumption? Are the resources used justified in relation to the intended benefits and life cycle?
Resistance and objections
What is the biggest objection that can be made to implementing the system? What kind of resistance can deployment cause and how has it been prepared for?
Outcome
When could the implementation of the system be considered a success? How should the original plan be changed so that work can continue?
